FAQs
Why choose The Psychological Pause for your mental health needs?
At The Psychological Pause, our philosophy is to hold space for our clients outside the busy-ness of normal life to explore your mental health needs. All too often days run into years and we get stuck in unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling and behaviours. When working with our psychologists you will gain an understanding of old patterns, learn new skills and tools, so you can create a new future.
What are the costs involved?
It depends on several factors. The most important being if you choose to access the Medicare rebate system for your psychology sessions. The rebate available to you will be different depending upon if you see a clinical or general registration psychologist. You will need to provide us with a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) and referral from your doctor before starting treatment to access your rebates.
Your Private Health Insurance may also provide you with rebates for psychology. You would need to claim these from your insurer after you pay for your session. You will be provided with an invoice that will indicate item numbers that the PHI will need.
TAC may also cover the costs of some of your psychology sessions. You will need to pay for your session and then claim back your rebate from TAC. .

What if I need to cancel?
We understand that life is hectic and sometimes you need to change and reschedule your appointments. Once you are a registered client with the practice, you will have access to the online booking system to make any changes needed. You can also call or text us to assist you with your appointments.
We do have a strict 24 hour cancellation policy. This means that we need 24 hours prior to your appointment to make any changes or you will be charged the full fee of your appointment. You will then be required to pay this fee before making any future bookings. This 24 hours allows our psychologists time to fill any gaps with clients who are waiting for appointments. We ask that you be respectful of our psychologist’s time and other clients waiting. Please contact as soon as you can when you know you can’t make it. We will then try our best to fill your appointment so that you are not charged the cancellation fee.
If you have any questions about this, we are here to talk to you about it.
